
Sacramento Gold FC will face La Máquina FC in the Second Round of the 2016 U.S. Open Cup at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Westminster High School.
Sacramento advanced to the Second Round for the first time in club history with a 3-1 win over the Burlingame Dragons Wednesday. After falling behind late in the first half, the Gold struck back twice over a span of two minutes, followed by an 89th minute clincher.
La Máquina -- which competes in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) under the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) -- also earned its first ever Open Cup win Wednesday. The SoCal squad scored an impressive 2-0 road victory over the Portland Timbers U-23 team.
The winner of this May 18 matchup will move on to play the winner of Ventura County Fusion/LA Wolves vs. Orange County Blues on Wednesday, June 1.
