Sacramento Gold FC is pleased to announce two new signings: midfielder Ander Saez and forward DJ Villegas.
Saez, a native of Victoria, Spain, joins the Gold as after a stellar season at the University of the Pacific, where he is a senior. Saez was one of four players to earn minutes in all 19 games for the Tigers, and was named to the All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention Team.
Villegas, the Sacramento-born standout, has been a promising prospect over the past several years, having trained with the U-14, U-15, U-16, and U-18 U.S. National Teams and earned seven caps at the U-18 level. Villegas had red shirted at UCLA in 2015 before transferring to San Diego State, a move which forced him to sit out last season.
In addition, longtime midfielder Nico Gonzalez has rejoined the club, after spending part of the year with Dalum IF in Denmark's 2nd Division. Gonzalez's highlights with Sacramento include an eight-minute hat trick against CD Aguiluchos USA in 2015 and an assist on the game-winning goal against the Burlingame Dragons in last year's U.S. Open Cup.
