SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Gold FC is ready and excited to face its newest rival, FC Davis, for the first time on Saturday.
Davis is one of three new clubs in the NPSL’s Golden Gate Conference this season and the first ever NPSL club from Davis, which is by far the Gold’s closest opponent. The opportunity to create a brand new rivalry with this kind of club is something Sacramento is eager to do.
“Sacramento Gold FC and FC Davis are both looking forward to creating our own version of a ‘causeway’ rivalry,” said Sacramento Gold FC owner John Nunan. “Both teams know and respect each other. If should be a terrific match, the first of many for years to come.”
The match also comes at a key point in the season. Sacramento, having drawn its first three marches, was dealt its first loss of the season this past weekend. The Gold will be looking to rebound on its home turf. Meanwhile, Davis earned its first NPSL win in club history last weekend and would love nothing more than to get its second against Sacramento.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at Capital Christian High School. Tickets are $5 and available at the gate.
