Shaiwany nearly started a second Gold goal only five minutes later, when set up Gabe Padilla in the box. Padilla turned and fired a quick shot at goal, But, the Aguiluchos goalkeeper was up for the save.

Aguiluchos then countered and nearly equalized, with Simon Rawnsley getting a shot off close to the goal. The ball hit the post and bounced out, Sacramento goalkeeper Hector Grajeda pouncing on the rebound.

After Aguiluchos barely missed a close chance wide left minutes before, the home squad pulled even in the 38th minute. The referee called a penalty after an Aguiluchos player was brought down in the box. Rawnsley buried the chance to make it 1-1.
